AUBURN, Ala. – Sophomore Tad Maclean was recognized Wednesday as a member of the SEC Community Service Team in men's tennis, recognizing the accomplishments of outstanding student-athletes beyond the field of competition.
One of the men's tennis representatives on Auburn's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Maclean has worked with Tiger Trick-or-Treat, the Tiger Community Signing, Beat Bama Food Drive and Toys for Tots collections. He visited local primary schools for Student-Athlete Day. He participated in the local tennis community's ALS evening, giving a tennis clinic and ice bucket challenge to raise funds for ALS, and helped lead SAAC campus team building exercises.
"Tad's willing to do whatever it takes on and off the court. He's a big charismatic, happy guy who's always there to help and he gives his time to SAAC," Auburn coach Bobby Reynolds said. "He wants the team to succeed and he's willing to do those things off the court because it's important to him."
Others named to the team include Alex Ross (Vanderbilt), Kevin Lam (Texas A&M), Paul Jubb (South Carolina), Nuno Borges (Mississippi State), Tim Sandkaulen (Ole Miss), Agie Moreno (LSU), Cesar Borgois (Kentucky), Alex Phillips (Georgia), Oliver Crawford (Florida), Josh Bortnick (Arkansas) and Sam Fischer (Alabama).
All league-sponsored sports have recognized a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003.
Auburn (12-17) concludes the regular season Saturday at No. 47 Arkansas. The SEC tournament begins April 17 at Florida.
