LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kendall Veach added another gem to her senior season as the Selma, Ala., native was named to the NFCA Division I All-Southeast First Team, the organization announced Thursday morning.
Veach, who was named to the All-SEC Second Team last week, led Auburn (37-19, 10-14) with a career-high 20 home runs in 2019, which is one shy of the Tigers' single-season record set by Kasey Cooper in 2016. She also led the team with RBI (48), total bases (114), slugging percentage (.745) and on-base percentage (.411). Behind the plate, Veach threw out 10 would-be base stealers.
It marks the sixth consecutive year the Auburn Tigers have had at least one player named to the NFCA All-Region team after Victoria Draper and Kaylee Carlson were first and second team selections, respectively, last season. Veach is the first Auburn catcher tabbed to the NFCA All-Region team since Carlee Wallace was a first-team selection in 2017.
The Southeastern Conference led all conferences with 40 honorees, while the Pac-12 and Big 10 had 38 and 37, respectively.
NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for the 2019 NFCA Division I All-America squads, which will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29.
