AUBURN, Ala. – Despite the 2019-20 season being cut short, the Auburn men's golf team has remained in top form during the summer through various amateur events.
Incoming freshman J.M. Butler won the Sizzler Amateur by setting a tournament record at 16-under (64-67-60--200). The event took place at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Rising senior Wells Padgett finished in a tie for fourth at 10-under (69-69-68--206). He, along with Butler, were one of only four in the 90-player field to fire all three rounds in the 60s.
Newcomer Carson Bacha also logged a top-10 finish as he shot 7-under (67-69-73--209) to tie for eighth overall.
Continuing his impressive summer, Butler also took medalist honors at the Dye Junior Invitational. The Louisville, Ky. native won by four strokes and finished at even par at the challenging Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
Returning senior Graysen Huff capped the Rice Planters Amateur in third at 11-under (72-67-66--205), just one stroke away from the top of the leaderboard. Huff's final round 66 was the second-lowest card of the tournament.
Rising sophomore C.J. Easley tied for fourth at the Mississippi State Amateur Championship after turning in a 3-under (69-71-71-74--285) card.
Incoming freshman Ryan Eshleman also logged a fourth-place finish at the Future Masters in Dothan, Ala. at 4-under (66-70-70--206).
The Tigers are set to continue their amateur tournaments throughout the rest of the summer.
