AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn gymnastics team enters the week at No. 18 per RoadtoNationals.com. The weekly rankings are based on the average score over the season.
The Tigers continue their road swing as the squad travels to No. 10 Alabama Friday, Jan. 22, for a 7:30 p.m. CT meet. The contest will be televised on SEC Network.
"I'm not paying attention to the rankings just yet with this young squad and the adversity we've faced early," head coach Jeff Graba said. "The annual dual meet against Alabama is always a huge thing for our team and the fact that Alabama is in the top 10 simply makes it even more dynamic."
This week's rankings has Florida (No. 1) and Oklahoma (No. 2) still on top as the Gators have an average of 197.375, while Oklahoma stands at 197.238. Michigan, Minnesota and LSU round out the Top 5.
The rest of the Southeastern Conference ranks in the Top 20. Arkansas is at No. 8 with Alabama at No. 10. Georgia and Kentucky as in spots 11 and 12, while Missouri is ranked 20th.
Junior Derrian Gobourne is tied for 16th in the all-around with a 39.250 average. She is also tied for 23rd on vault at 9.850. Sophomore Cassie Stevens is tied for 18th in the all-around at 39.225.
