Maddie Prohaska wins back-to-back SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Freshman goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, the league office announced Monday.

Prohaska becomes the first SEC player to earn back-to-back Defensive Player of the Week honors since former South Carolina goalkeeper Mikayla Krzeczowski on Sept. 5 and Sept. 11, 2017.

"We are so excited for Maddie to win back-to-back SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "Getting a shutout on the road against a quality ACC team is a great accomplishment, and we are glad to see that accomplishment recognized by the league."

The SEC honors marks the third of the season for Prohaska. She was also named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 21 following her performance in her collegiate debut vs. Mississippi State.
Prohaska lead Auburn to the team's fourth shutout in five contests this spring, turning in a clean sheet in a 1-0 double overtime win at Louisville Saturday. The shutout was the freshman's seventh of the season, including her sixth solo shutout.

The West Chester, Ohio, native has been in net for all 487 minutes of action during the spring season and has allowed just one goal.

She continues to lead the league in save percentage (0.842) and her 0.82 goals against average would register fourth in program history if the season ended today.

Prohaska and the Tigers continue the final stretch of the spring season with a matchup at archrival Alabama Saturday, Mar. 27 at 2 p.m. CT.
