AUBURN, Ala. – Winners of four straight, Auburn (9-5-3) wraps up the regular season with a neutral-site matchup against Virginia Tech (8-8-0) Saturday in Greenwood, South Carolina.
Kickoff at Van Taylor Stadium on the campus of Lander University is set for 1:30 p.m. CT.
STARTING XI
Auburn is riding a season best four-match winning streak, marking its longest winning streak since starting the 2018 season with nine straight wins.
The Tigers have outscored opponents 12-2 this spring, having allowed just one goal in the last 383 minutes of action.
Auburn leads the SEC in goals against average (0.77) and is tied for the lead in shutouts (8). The team also ranks third in goals allowed (14).
Auburn's most recent shutout came against the national leader in goals, assists and points in South Alabama.
The Tigers eight shutouts are the team's most since 2018. Another shutout would tie for the fourth most in a season in program history.
Hailey Whitaker has scored in back-to-back games and was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after matching a career high with four points on a goal and two assists vs. South Alabama.
Virginia Tech represents Auburn's third ACC opponent it's played on the road this spring. The Tigers are 1-1-0 against its previous two opponents in Clemson and Louisville.
Depending on Saturday's outcome, Auburn will anxiously await Monday's NCAA Tournament Selection Show at noon CT on NCAA.com.
After going 4-4-2 in SEC play in the fall, the Tigers are 5-1-1 this spring.
Head coach Karen Hoppa won her 250th game at Auburn vs. Georgia on Mar. 13.
Hoppa is one of 20 active NCAA women's soccer Division I head coaches with 300 or more career wins, including 250 or more wins at the helm of his or her current program.
SCOUTING VIRGINIA TECH
After starting the season 0-5, Virginia Tech has gone 8-3 in its last 11 contests, including 3-0 this spring.
The Hokies have scored 10 goals in three matches this spring and are led offensively by Emily Gray and Tori Powell, who have combined for 42 points on 15 goals and 12 assists this season.
Alia Skinner has served as the team's primary goalkeeper and has allowed 18 goals in 15 contests, good for a 1.24 goals against average.
