AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women's golf team released their 2021-22 schedule Friday, and it's a slate that features some familiar tournaments as well as some new ones.
"Coach Kim Hall and I are excited about the schedule this year," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "We will be competing against the top teams in every event reaching both coasts. Championship preparation is a daily endeavor. Exposing the team to different styles of courses, a variety of grasses and climate are necessary steps."
Auburn will open the campaign Sept. 13-14 at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina, for the Cougar Classic – the same tournament they opened with two years ago.
The fall season will also feature two staples on the schedule, the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee, and the Ally at Old Waverly in West Point, Mississippi. But new to this year's schedule is the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, a tournament in Dublin, Ohio, featuring both the Auburn men's and women's golf teams.
"A highlight will be The Barbara Nicklaus Cup at Muirfield Village, site of the PGA's Memorial Tournament," Luellen said. "We will be joining forces with the Auburn men's golf team to compete in a round robin format against Florida State, Arizona State and Ohio State. It's wonderful compliment for Auburn Golf to be invited to represent the SEC."
After breaking for the holidays, the Tigers will return to the course in February with back-to-back tournaments in Florida – the UCF Challenge and the Moon Golf Invitational. Then it's back to South Carolina for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
In March, Auburn is slated to make a return appearance to the prestigious Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, California. Two years ago, Kaleigh Telfer won the individual title for Auburn at the event.
The Tigers will wrap up the regular season at home with the debut of the Auburn Individual, an individual tournament at Saugahatchee Golf Club on April 4-5.
The postseason will begin April 13-17 with the SEC Championship at Greystone G&CC in Birmingham, Alabama, where Auburn will look to repeat as champions. From there, it's on to the NCAA Regional and then ultimately the NCAA Championship, which will return to Grayhawk GC in Scottsdale, Arizona for the second straight year.
