Auburn in the NFL: Week 12 rundown

Auburn in the NFL: Week 12 rundownAuburn in the NFL: Week 12 rundown

As families gathered together and ate turkey on Thanksgiving, former Auburn kicker Daniel Carlson was busy feasting on the Dallas Cowboys, making all five of his field goals – including the game-winner in overtime for the Las Vegas Raiders.

That and more in this week's Auburn in the NFL rundown.

BEST OF WEEK 12

Angelo Blackson, DL, Chicago Bears
In what was his fourth start of the season, Blackson played 69 percent of the snaps and made his presence felt for the Bears in their Thanksgiving Day victory over the Detroit Lions. The seventh-year veteran finished with one tackle, one QB hit and three QB pressures. Lined up against rookie and top 10 pick Peneii Sewell for most of the game, Blackson repeatedly won the point of attack. He has a career-high 26 tackles on the season.

Daniel Carlson, PK, Las Vegas Raiders
It was a Thanksgiving to remember for Carlson who kicked the game-winning field goal for the Raiders in a 36-33 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The fourth-year kicker, who took home MVP honors for his performance, made all five of his field goals and was 3 of 3 on extra points. His 18 points was a new career high, and he also set a career long of 56 yards on his go-ahead field goal in the final minutes of regulation. Carlson now holds the highest field-goal percentage in team history at 87.6 percent (minimum of 100 attempts).

Javaris Davis, CB, Miami Dolphins
Davis made his long-awaited NFL debut this weekend for the Dolphins. After going undrafted in 2020, the former Auburn defensive back signed with Kansas City but ultimately ended up on Miami's practice squad. He got called up for the first time Sunday, and in his first game action, he finished with two tackles and one pass break-up in a 33-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. Davis has since been placed back on the practice squad.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants
Facing one of the NFL's top cornerbacks in Darius Slay, Slayton hauled in three catches for 40 yards Sunday. All three receptions went for first downs in the Giants' 13-7 win over their divisional foes, the Philadelphia Eagles. It was Slayton's first start since Week 8 and the most yards he's put up since a five-catch, 63-yard effort in Week 7.
