It's time to meet the newcomers to the 2021-22 Auburn equestrian team!
Up next is a freshman from Clarksburg, New Jersey… Sophee Steckbeck! Sophee brought a wealth of experience to the Plains. Highlighting her many accomplishments was her second-place finish at the 2020 WIHS Junior Equitation Final. In addition, she took sixth at the 2020 USEF Talent Search Finals East Coast and fourth at the 2020 Maclay Finals.
Q: How long have you been riding?
"I have been riding since I was four-years old and I started competing competitively when I was six and have been doing it ever since."
Q: What is the name of your first pony?
"Timmy was my first pony. He was a small bay pony with a lot of spice. I fell off a lot. Once I fell off three times in one lesson because he just liked to buck me off for fun."
Q: What are you looking forward to the most this season?
"I can't wait to host SEC Championships to start the postseason."
Q: What is your favorite Auburn tradition?
"Rolling Toomer's Corner, of course!"
Q: What is the movie you would watch for the rest of your life?
"The Hangover for sure. I love that movie and could watch it over and over. I can recite most of it at this point."
Q: Who is your celebrity crush?
"I can't pick between Ryan Reynolds or Zac Efron so I have to say both."
Q: What is your major and why?
"I'm a pre-business because I don't really know what I want to do after college. A business degree seemed like a good place to start."
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
"You can find me napping in my free time."
