AUBURN, Ala. – The spring season is underway, and our series highlighting the newcomers on the Auburn women's golf team rolls on. Next up is Casey Weidenfeld, a freshman from Pembroke Pines, Florida, who was the top-ranked player in the state of Florida in her class. Weidenfeld was a 2020 Rolex Junior All-American and won the 2020 AJGA Girls Championship.

1. What is the biggest golf highlight of your career?

Weidenfeld: Shooting a course record at the AJGA Girls Championship. I shot a 64. We were at the Furman home course. I actually bogeyed the first hole. But then I birdied 2 and 3, made par on 4, and then I think I birdied like 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13. When I finished, I was like, 'Wow, that was really good.' It was a really cool experience.

2. Do you have any pre-tournament superstitions?

Weidenfeld: I only play with a 1 or 2 numbered golf ball. That's like a major superstition of mine. I will not play a tournament with a 3 or 4 or any other number. It's got to be a 1 or a 2.

3. What is your favorite golf club to use?

Weidenfeld: Usually it's my putter because I feel confident I can make those clutch putts.

4. What are you studying at Auburn? What do you want to do?

Weidenfeld: I am an English major, and I want to be a book writer or screenwriter. I've written three books, two of which are published. I wrote them when I was in fifth and sixth grade.

5. How did that come about? Your average fifth-grader is not writing books.

Weidenfeld: I had a really tough fifth-grade year. I broke my ankle, and I just wasn't connecting with the people at the school. It was a really small elementary school. So, I ended up reading a lot, and I just ended up writing. I finished one book in fifth grade and two in sixth grade. I just could write for hours and finish like 30 pages. It was crazy. I'm actually writing one right now. I started two years ago, and I'm like 350 pages in. So, I'm almost done with it.

6. What is your favorite golf course you've played on?

Weidenfeld: I really like Buffalo Ridge in Missouri. Obviously, I like the Furman home course because I have great memories there. But Buffalo Ridge is really pretty. It's kind of near the Ozarks in Missouri. I just love that course, and I've played pretty well every time I've gone.

7. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Weidenfeld: Probably Japan because I think it's got really cool technological stuff. They're really advanced, and their culture is really cool with all the infrastructure and stuff. And then Italy because of the food.

8. If you had a last meal, what would it be?

Weidenfeld: Chicken parmesan

9. What does the Auburn Family mean to you?

Weidenfeld: Everyone here is so nice, and they're really hospitable. They're just very kind and generous. I can definitely tell the Auburn Family is really cool. They're just all so friendly, and they really take care of you.
