AUBURN, Ala. – Following successful performances at last week's Southeastern Conference Championships, Auburn junior Ryan Kinnane and freshmen Gené Coetzee and Joseph Perry were named to the All-SEC Second Team and the SEC All-Freshman Team, respectively.

Behind a 23:27.1 run, Kinnane finished 11th in the men's 8k race in a field of 105 total competitors. The performance was the best by a male Tiger since the 2014 season when Ty McCormack finished runner-up at the meet. The Andover, Kansas native bested his previous conference championship performance from a year ago where he finished 29th and clocked a 24:23.2. Kinnane builds upon his already impressive start to his junior campaign after being named SEC Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year a week prior.

"Ryan has been an incredible leader all season, jumping out straight to the front pack each weekend and setting the tone for our team," said Coach Aaron Kindt.

In his first taste of SEC Championship action, Joseph Perry claimed 69th, individually, with a time of 25:19.0. The Mobile, Alabama native was 6th among true freshman competing in the championship event.

Also making her conference championships debut, Gené Coetzee claimed 24th, individually, with a 20:33.55 in the women's 6k. Thanks to a new personal best, Coetzee was the 5th true freshman to complete the course.

"I am very proud of all three and what they were able to accomplish not just this past weekend but throughout this fall," said Kindt.

All-SEC selections were determined solely by individual placements at the SEC Championships last week. The top seven finishers in each race, men's 8k and women's 6k, were named to the first team with the following seven finishers being named to the second team. All-Freshman selections consisted of the top seven true freshman runners in each race.
