KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Auburn soccer was named a Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award recipient by United Soccer Coaches Thursday.

"I am so proud of our team for winning this award," Tigers head coach Karen Hoppa said. "This group really respects the game and always plays with integrity."

USC's Sportsmanship Award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards shown by referees throughout the season.

Each tier of the award is based on the number of cards accumulated divided by the number of games played, with no team displaying an average higher than 0.50 yellow cards per game earing the award. Teams that received at least one red card were not eligible for the recognition.

With seven yellow cards and zero red cards in 18 games played, the Tigers qualified for bronze status.

Auburn is one of three power five schools and one of two in the Southeastern Conference to have been bestowed team ethics and sportsmanship honors.
