AUBURN, Ala. — After earning the first top-five shutout of her career, senior Maddie Prohaska has been named an SEC Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Prohaska went the distance between the sticks in Auburn’s season-opening victory versus No. 5 Clemson. She made saves on all four dangerous chances faced, including two on a pair of breakaways, to hold Clemson scoreless for just the second time in its previous 17 regular season matches.
The win was Auburn’s first over a top-five opponent since besting No. 5 Duke 1-0 in 2011.
One match into her final season on The Plains, the West Chester, Ohio native owns 263 career saves and 26 career shutouts, which rank sixth and third in the school record books, respectively.
Prohaska and the No. 13 Tigers return to competition Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. as they host Southern Miss for the first of two Senior Weekend matches.
