CHARLESTON, S.C. – Auburn finished its first tournament of the 2025-26 season with a final round 281 (-3) at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina. The Tigers concluded the event in ninth place out of 18 teams at 3-over (855) through three rounds. Ole Miss won the event at 18-under (834)
“Today was a great way to finish the tournament by shooting the low round of the day,” said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. “Just shows the grit and determination of this group. Now, to get started better. We will learn and take away from this tournament.
“Our next tournament in Canada will be full of youth as Katie Cranston and Carys Worby will both be attending stage one of the LPGA qualifying tournament. An exciting opportunity for our young ones to get some experience!”
Sophomore Balma Dávalos carded her first round under par this season on Tuesday with a 70 (-1) and finished the event at 1-under 212. Dávalos played the par-5s at Yeamans Hall Club in 3-under for the tournament and tied for 17th place individually.
Junior Anna Davis matched her teammate in 17th after firing an even-par 71 in her final round. Davis has now recorded 15 top-20 finishes in her collegiate career.
Sophomore Molly Brown Davidson posted her best round of the event with a 1-under 70, finishing with a 54-hole score of 214 (+1) to tie for 28th place on the individual leaderboard.
Redshirt senior Carys Worby became the third Tiger to record a round under par, posting a 70 (-1) on Tuesday. Her round was highlighted by back-to-back birdies on Nos. 3 and 4.
Auburn led the 18-team field in par-3 scoring at 1-over across all three rounds. The Tigers also shot 9-under on par-5s, the fourth-best mark in the field.
Up next, Auburn will travel north of the border to compete in the inaugural Canadian Collegiate Invitational on Sept. 22-23 at Beacon Hill Golf Club in Aurora, Ontario.
