FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 6 Auburn women’s golf completed play at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Auburn finished the tournament at 36-over 876 for a 10th-place finish. The Tigers posted their best round of the event on Tuesday with a 9-over 289.
“Today we posted a better team score, which is a step in the right direction, but we’re still disappointed to have counted a couple of high rounds,” Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. “We did a great job climbing the leaderboard on the front nine, then faced some challenges coming in on the back. Now it’s about resetting, getting some rest and getting back to work next week as we prepare for the SEC Championship.”
Auburn freshman Charlotte Cantonis led the team in the final round, posting a 1-under 69 with three birdies for her sixth round under par this season. Cantonis finished at 8-over (218) and in 26th place individually.
Junior Anna Davis recorded her best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting even-par 70 with four birdies. Davis finished tied for 19th at 7-over-par (217) for her eighth top-20 finish of the season.
Auburn sophomore Molly Brown Davidson shot 75 (+5) in the final round and finished at 12-over-par 222, tied for 42nd. Senior Katie Cranston also provided a counting score on Tuesday with a 5-over 75 and finished tied for 59th at 15-over (225).
No. 1 Stanford won the team title at 8-over (848), while Oregon’s Kiara Romero claimed the individual title at 6-under (204).
Up next, Auburn will have individuals participating in the Georgia State Invitational at Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, Georgia, on Monday and Tuesday. The Tigers’ next team event will be the SEC Championship, April 17-21 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.
