AUBURN, Ala. – No. 2 Auburn men’s golf is set to open the 2026-27 season in Toledo, Ohio, competing at the 18th Inverness Intercollegiate at the Inverness Club, Sept. 13-15.
“It’s exciting to finally get the season underway and see this team compete,” head coach Nick Clinard said. “We have a great mix of experienced guys who know what it takes to win and they’re ready to bring the energy. I’m excited to see what happens when we tee it up against some of the best this week in a historic tournament.”
AUBURN LINEUP
Auburn’s starting five for the season opener are seniors Josiah Gilbert and Cayden Pope, junior Billy Davis and sophomores Logan Reilly and Alex Holder.
Gilbert and Pope return with the most rounds played from last season as the pair each finished with 43. Gilbert is coming off a big junior year, securing two All-America recognitions and First Team All-SEC. The Millbrook, Alabama product also represented Team USA at the 2026 Palmer Cup and Walker Cup.
Pope and Reilly each garnered SEC honors last year with Pope have second team honors and Reilly being placed on the All-Freshman Team. Pope was also a part of the Palmer Cup USA squad, while Reilly had an outstanding summer that culminated in a semifinal finish at the U.S. Amateur.
Davis totaled 30 rounds in 2025-26 and played in 10 tournaments, having four Top 20 finishes. Holder is making his collegiate debut at Inverness for the squad after sitting out last season.
TOURNAMENT FACTS
The 2026 edition of the Inverness Intercollegiate features a competitive field of 18 teams. The second-ranked Tigers will face No. 6 Vanderbilt, No. 7 Tennessee, No. 9 LSU, No. 17 Oklahoma, No. 22 Ole Miss, Austin Peay, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Iowa, Loyola Marymount, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Texas Tech, Toledo, Wake Forest and Virginia.
Sunday’s round has Auburn playing with Texas Tech and Virginia. Reilly will get things started at 10:10 a.m. CT.

UP NEXT
The Tigers will head to Texas for the Ben Hogan Collegiate held at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The two-day, three-round tournament is set for Sept. 28-29.
