Education: Phipps attended Clemson University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and minored in Spanish Studies (2023). He then attended Georgia Southern University and earned his Master of Science in Sport Management (2026). He is also CSCS certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Job Responsibilities: As an Assistant Sports Performance Coach, Phipps oversees all aspects of performance training for Men’s and Women’s Dive. He also assists with coaching multiple other Olympic sport teams.

Experience: Prior to his arrival at Auburn, Phipps spent the previous two years at Georgia Southern University. Between July 2024 and May 2026, his responsibilities included designing and implementing strength, speed, and conditioning programs for the Women’s Soccer, Track & Field/XC, and Women’s Golf programs. He also served in an assistant strength and conditioning coach role with the Baseball program during this time. Before Georgia Southern, Phipps began his coaching career at Clemson University, where he worked in two separate positions. Phipps was an intern in the weight room with Clemson Football’s Strength & Conditioning staff from May 2022 to December 2023. From August 2020 to May 2022, he was also an intern with Clemson University Sports Medicine and worked primarily with Clemson Football.

Personal: Phipps is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina.
