Under his leadership, War Eagle Creative and War Eagle Productions earned the prestigious Golden Matrix Award in 2024 for best overall university production. Auburn’s Fan Experience unit was recognized in 2025 as a finalist for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) Marketing Team of the Year Award, marking its second consecutive runner-up finish.
Before joining Auburn Athletics, Buchanan spent 12 years at Ole Miss, where he rose to Chief Marketing Officer and senior leadership team member. He led in-venue fan experience, digital marketing, and advertising strategy, with his department earning back-to-back NACMA Marketing Team of the Year finalist honors in 2021 and 2022.
Buchanan currently serves on the Board of Directors for NACMA, represents the Southeastern Conference within the organization, and is an adjunct professor of sport promotions at the University of Mississippi.
