Terrence Kennell joined the Auburn football staff in December 2025. He currently serves as the Director of Applied Science.
Kennell comes to Auburn after spending the last three seasons with head coach Alex Golesh as the Director of Applied Science & Speed Development at USF.
In his role, Kennell is responsible for integrating advanced analytics, sports science, and data-driven methodologies to optimize student-athlete performance, reduce injury risk, and provide competitive advantages.
Kennell had a hand in the turnaround of the USF program, going from four combined wins from 2020-22 to 23 total wins in the three-year tenure under Golesh, including a 9-3 record in 2025.
Prior to his time in Tampa, Kennell held strength and conditioning and sports performance roles across multiple sports, both collegiate and professional.
Kennell served as the Assistant Director of Football Strength & Conditioning at Campbell for a short time in 2023 and was the Head of Sports Performance for the UMass Amherst men’s basketball program from 2021-22. He also spent time as the High Performance Director for the KC Current of the NWSL and was a Strength & Conditioning Coach and Rehab Coordinator with the Houston Astros from 2019-21.
Kennell earned his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State in 2017 and master’s from St. Mary’s University, Twickenham (England) in 2019.
