SAN ANTONIO ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Junior Kelli Murphy shot under par for the third time in her last four rounds, and the Auburn women's golf team finished round one in a tie for fifth place Sunday at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational.

Murphy recorded a 1-under-par 71 to lead the Tigers in the opening round, and she is tied for ninth in the individual standings. She is a collective 8-under-par in her last four rounds, dating back to the start of the Pinehurst Challenge two weeks ago. In Sunday's round, she put together a flawless front nine with two birdies, then got to 3-under with a birdie at the 12th. A pair of bogeys at 14 and 15 dropped her back to 1-under, but she closed with three straight pars.

Junior Michaela Owen and freshman Kayley Marschke recorded matching rounds of 73 (+1) and are tied for 20th place. Owen had four birdies and an eagle on her round, and Marschke posted four birdies as well. Freshman Elena Hualde was one shot back of her teammates with a 74 (+2) and is tied for 25th place.

As a team, the Tigers shot 291 (+3) and are tied for fifth with tournament host UTSA. Mississippi State leads at 4-under, one shot ahead of Tennessee (-3) with Arkansas in third place at even par and Texas A&M in fourth at 2-over.
