TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Auburn's baseball season came to an end in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional final Monday night as host Florida State defeated the Tigers 6-0.

The Tigers (37-26) made their farthest advance in a postseason since the 2010 season, earning their 20th all-time regional bid and playing in a winner-take-all game on the final day of the regional.

"I thought we were going to get them," Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. "Getting to coach against Coach (Mike) Martin is a big deal to me, personally. (Florida State) has a feeling in their program of an expectation of winning, and that's what we're trying to build. Hopefully we can get to (that level) very soon.

"We're in a good place. We have a lot to keep looking forward to. You can't ever stop. We have to do more and we have to get better. ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ I have never been more proud of a group I've had an opportunity to work with."

FSU starter Will Zirzow (4-1) kept Auburn's hitters off-balance all night as he pitched a complete game, holding Auburn to two hits on the night.

The Seminoles jumped ahead in the top of the first when a Dylan Busby RBI double brought home the first run to make it 1-0. After another walk and a sacrifice bunt, a sacrifice fly scored the second run to give the Seminoles a 2-0 lead.

That held up for the majority of the game as Auburn reliever Calvin Coker and FSU's Zirzow plowed through the opponents' batting orders through the first five-plus innings. Zirzow didn't surrender a hit until the sixth inning when Blake Logan led off with a single.

FSU added another run in the seventh inning on an errant pickoff attempt at second, allowing a runner to score from third to make it 3-0. The Seminoles would tack on two more in the eighth and another in the ninth.

Logan finished with two hits to account for Auburn's offense on the night.

The Tigers finished the season hitting .274 as a team. Jonah Todd led the offense on the year with a .374 average. Auburn hit .260 in the regional, led by Jay Estes at .455. On the mound, the Tigers had a season ERA of 4.36, led by Casey Mize's 2.06.
