AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn volleyball team added another honor to last season as the squad earned an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic school year.

Auburn was one of 145 Division I schools and seven SEC programs to be rewarded with the annual honor. The AVCA initiated the yearly award for the 1992-93 academic year and it honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

The squad had 13 student-athletes named the SEC Honor Roll, including seniors Courtney Crable, Alexa Filley, and Macy Reece. Rising sophomores Gwyn Jones and Karis Beasley earned spots on the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.

The 2017 season kicks off Aug. 25 as the Tigers travel to Georgia Tech for the Georgia Tech Tournament. Auburn is also set to host an exhibition match vs. UAB, Aug. 19, in Auburn Arena.
