AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn softball team is set to begin its annual fall schedule with a doubleheader Friday, Oct. 13. The Tigers take on Northwest Florida State CC at 3 p.m. CT before facing Enterprise State CC at 5:30 p.m. CT.
"We're excited to get on the field," head coach Mickey Dean said. "It will be exciting to get out there and play against somebody other than ourselves, and let the adrenaline, excitement and athleticism take over."
Coach Dean and his new staff, associate head coach Gerry Glasco and assistant coach Annie Smith, will toe the coaches box for the first time as Auburn Tigers.
The team returns a plethora of talent in the circle, including 98 percent of the innings and strikeouts, highlighted by senior All-American Kaylee Carlson. Auburn also returns experience in junior Makayla Martin and sophomore Ashlee Swindle.
In the field and at the plate, the Tigers have six players who made at least 30 starts last season. Sophomore All-SEC performer Alyssa Rivera, senior Victoria Draper and junior Morgan Podany return to pace the outfield group, while juniors Casey McCrackin and Kendall Veach bring back experience in the infield.
Behind the dish, senior Courtney Shea returns for her final campaign and leads the group of catchers.
All fall games are free of charge and open to the public. Friday's games will not be streamed.
