AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Auburn running back Kerryon Johnson was selected as one of 11 semifinalists for the 2017 Doak Walker Award on Friday.

Johnson, the lone representative from the SEC, leads the conference with 1,035 yards rushing and 15 rushing touchdowns. His 16 touchdowns (two receiving) in league play are three more than any other SEC player, and he's the ninth different Auburn player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season since 2009.

Johnson is coming off one of his best performances of the season, accounting for 233 all-purpose yards against No. 1 Georgia. He was named the SEC offensive player of the week and the Maxwell Award player of the week for his efforts.

Members of the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee will cast their votes after this week's game to determine the three finalists. The committee will then cast a second vote to select a winner, which will be announced live at the Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Johnson joins a long list of Doak Walker Award semifinalists from Auburn that includes Carnell Williams (2004), Ronnie Brown (2004), Kenny Irons (2005), Ben Tate (2009), Tre Mason (2013), Cameron Artis-Payne (2014) and Kamryn Pettway (2016).
