AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn women's tennis opened the 2018 season Friday by sweeping the competition, posting a 4-0 victory over ULM in match one and a 4-0 victory over Georgia State in match two at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.

"I'm really just excited to have nine fully healthy girls out there on the court," Auburn head coach Lauren Spencer said. "It was really exciting to have Andie (Dikosavljevic) and Georgie (Axon) back. They played great tennis. I think that both ULM and Georgia State are scrappy teams. You have to really bring your intensity."

To kick off the day against ULM, Auburn took the doubles point after a 6-1 win from Jaeda Daniel and Alizee Michaud over Madalina Grigouriu and Teodora Radu along with a 6-4 win from Taylor Russo and Madeline Meredith over Stefana Andrei and Karolina Snita.

In singles, Auburn took three more consecutive points to clinch the 4-0 victory with Alizee Michaud's 6-0, 6-0 win over Clara Rizea, Jaeda Daniel's 6-2, 6-3 win over Teodora Radu and Dikosavljevic's 6-3, 6-4 win over Karolina Silwanowicz.

The Tigers made short work of doubles in their second match against Georgia State, clinching the point with back-to-back wins from Dikosavljevic and Caroline Turner (6-2) while Michaud and Daniel won their second match of the day in a 6-1 effort.

Singles saw a continued high level of play as Turner (6-1, 6-2), Russo (6-1, 6-2) and Meredith (6-2, 6-2) clinched three straight points to claim the match.

"I think our biggest thing is to see where we are at," Spencer said. "I thought we put some different combinations out there in doubles and they handled themselves really well. I thought our intensity was really great and I'm just really proud of the team."

Auburn returns to the courts tomorrow vs. Oklahoma. The match is slated for a 10 a.m. CT start at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. Admission to the contest is free while live stats will be available at .
