WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - No. 8 Auburn Men's Golf is 9th after the Amer Ari Invitational opening round, carding a 2-under 286 at the Kings' Crossings Course at the Waikoloa Beach on Thursday.
No. 16 Texas Tech leads at 9-under 279 followed by No. 2 Oklahoma State (280).
Freshman Brandon Mancheno is t-17th at 2-under 70 to lead the Tigers. The Jacksonville, Fla. native carded four birdies in the round on Nos. 2, 4, 13 and 18. Sophomore Jovan Rebula is a stroke back at 1-under 71 and is t-27th. The George, South Africa, native birdied Nos. 2, 4, 14, 17 and 18. Junior Trace Crowe is also at 1-under 71 and t-27th and tallied birdies on Nos. 8, 13 and 17.
Junior Jacob Solomon is t-65th at 2-over 74 and Freshman Wells Padgett is t-75th at 3-over 75.
A trio of Tigers are playing the course as individuals. Sophomore Graysen Huff is t-65th at 2-over 74. Freshman Andrew Kozan is t-85th at 4-over 76 and senior Ben Schlottman is t-96 at 5-over 77.
No. 3 Georgia Tech, No. 14 Texas Tech and TCU are t-3rd at 7-under 281 followed by No. 19 Southern California (282) and San Jose State (282).
UC Davis is eighth at 283 followed by Auburn (286), Colorado (287), Oregon (287), Stanford (288), Arizona State (289), Osaka Gakuin University (296), Hawaii-Hilo (302), Oregon State (302), Pacific (305) and Hawaii (308).
Georgia Tech's Tyler Strafaci is the day one leader at 6-under 66.
