AUBURN, Ala. -- The Auburn women's golf team makes its annual trek to the coast of South Carolina this weekend when the Tigers play in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The tournament runs Friday-Sunday at Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island.

The Tigers enter the week at No. 34 in the latest GolfStat rankings but have gone nearly a month since their last team event. That tournament, the UCF Challenge in Orlando, was Auburn's best team showing of the year, ending in a third-place finish in the 16-team field. Senior Kelli Murphy and sophomore Elena Hualde tied for ninth, marking the second top-10 of the season for both players.

Hualde and Murphy have the top two spots in Auburn's lineup for the Darius Rucker. Freshman Julie McCarthy will play in her second team event for the Tigers in the No. 3 spot. Sophomore Kayley Marschke, coming off a victory at the Lake Oconee Individual Championship, is in the fourth position, and senior Michaela Owen returns from an earlier injury to play at No. 5.

The strongest field of the season to date awaits the Tigers as six of the top 10 teams in the country - as well as 10 of the top 25 - headline the 18-team field. Alabama (2), Arkansas (3), Duke (5), Arizona State (6), South Carolina (8) and Furman (9) are the top six in the field, joined by Northwestern (13), Oklahoma State (14), Virginia (20) and Wake Forest (23). Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt give the SEC nine teams in the event, and Baylor and North Carolina round out the field.

This is Auburn's sixth appearance in the eight-year history of the Darius Rucker. The Tigers finished 14th last year, and Marschke was the top individual finisher for Auburn.
