The Auburn men's swimming and diving team is in Minneapolis this week for the 2018 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota.

Auburn has qualified eight swimmers and two divers for the event. Eight of Auburn's participants have past NCAA experience, with Zach Apple, Peter Holoda, Scott Lazeroff and Liam McCloskey each having earned previous All-America honors for top-16 finishes.

"We are taking ten very capable athletes, all of which are capable of getting on the podium," Auburn head coach Brett Hawke said.

Freshman Hugo Gonzalez is seeded first in both the 200 IM and 400 IM after setting Auburn school records in both events this season. He is also seeded third in the 200 back, where he also holds the school record.

"Hugo is one of the top swimmers in the country as a freshman," Hawke said. "He's looking very strong."

Apple also has a pair of top-8 seeds, checking in at fourth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free.

"Zach, who is a top sprinter, should lead us through the relays and his individual events," Hawke said.

Holoda is seeded eighth in the 100 free.

Four of Auburn's relays are seeded in the top 16, with both of the medley relays seeded fifth.

The championships begin on Wednesday with the 800 free relay at 6 p.m. The first full day of prelims and finals is Thursday beginning at 10 a.m.

Live stats and video throughout the championships will be available at gophersports.com.
