HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Senior Kelli Murphy and sophomore Elena Hualde led the Auburn women's golf team in the second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Saturday.

Murphy shot 73 (+2), a four-shot improvement from her first round, to move up to a tie for 31st. After opening with a birdie, she made the turn at 2-over and closed out her round with nine straight pars on a tough scoring day for the whole field. Hualde was three shots better than her opening round with a 74 (+3) on Saturday that included a pair of birdies.

Freshman Julie McCarthy and sophomore Kayley Marschke each shot 78 (+7), and senior Michaela Owen carded a 79 (+8).

As a team, the Tigers remained in 17th place with a 303 (+19) today and have a score of 607 (+39) for the tournament. Auburn made up a bit of ground on the field as just nine shots separate the Tigers from the tournament top-10.

Alabama held onto its lead at 9-over, six shots ahead of second-place Northwestern (+15). LSU's Claudia De Antonio is the individual leader at 139 (-3).

The Tigers finish out the week Sunday starting on the 10th tee at 7:30 a.m. CT, paired with Virginia and Oklahoma State. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
