AUBURN, Ala. - Anika Bolčíková, a native of Martin, Slovakia, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Auburn women's golf team beginning with the 2018-19 season, head coach Melissa Luellen announced Monday.
"Anika is a very physically gifted athlete who brings a great desire for excellence and the work ethic to make it happen," Luellen said. "Her resources in Slovakia are quite limited, so I believe she will flourish with our facilities and the support Auburn will offer her. We are excited to have her join our Auburn Family."
Bolčíková was the Slovakian Junior Open champion in 2017, posting rounds of 70-69-66 to win the title. She also earned the title in a neighboring country, winning the Czech Junior Open that year. She played for the Slovakian national team at the European Ladies Team Championship in 2017 and at the European Girls' Team Championship in 2015 and 2016.
She was ranked as high as second nationally among women's golfers in Slovakia during the 2017 season.
Bolčíková joins Chandler Rosholt (Austin, Texas) and Brooke Sansom (Pike Road, Ala.) as student-athletes that will begin competing for the Tigers in the fall of 2018; Sansom enrolled in January but is redshirting the 2018 spring semester.
