GASTONIA, N.C. - Auburn junior Trace Crowe matched a program record with a score of 63 in the second round of the Gary Koch Invitational Monday afternoon. Crowe's career-low card tied Kyle Kopsick during the same tournament in 2009.
Crowe leads the field at 12-under (69-63--132) as he secured 10 birdies and one eagle in his two circuits of the par 72 course. He is three shots ahead of second place and five in front of third.
Crowe is one of five Tigers in the top 10. Wells Padgett is five strokes behind the junior and is in third with a score of 7-under (69-68--137). He racked up 10 birdies en route to his second-best 36-hole total of his career.
Jovan Rebula is tied for fourth at 6-under (70-68--138), while Ben Schlottman stands in a split for sixth at 5-under (67-72--139).
Ryan Knop rounds out the contingent in the top 10 as his 4-under (70-70--140) is tied for 10th.
At 2-under, Jacob Solomon is tied for 17th (70-72--142) and Brandon Mancheno is tied for 24th at even-par (71-73--144).
As a team, No. 11 Auburn is 27-under (276-273--549) and leads Kentucky by six strokes (278-277--555), followed by No. 17 Florida State (295-277--572), Ole Miss (276-297--573), Virginia (293-286--579), Georgia Southern (298-284--582), ULM (295-288--583), Jacksonville (293-291--584), Gardner-Webb (295-290--585), Coastal Carolina (291-298--589), Jacksonville State (304-290--594), Western Carolina (303-291--594) and Lamar (305-298--603).
