MASON, Ga. – Auburn rising senior Trace Crowe booked his place in the U.S. Amateur after winning a playoff against Central Alabama CC's Sam Goldasich Tuesday afternoon. He capped the 36-hole tournament at the Brickyard GC at 2-under (73-69--142).
The Bluffton, S.C. native racked up eight birdies in two rounds split evenly across the front and back nine. Four of his birdies came on par-5 holes, while three came on par-4 holes and one on a par-3 hole.
Crowe is one of three Tigers to qualify for the U.S. Amateur, joining teammates Brandon Mancheno, who placed second at the qualifying event at the World Golf Village, and Jovan Rebula, who earned an exemption after winning the 123rd British Amateur.
The trio is set to play at the prestigious Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hills GC in Pebble Beach, Calif., Aug. 13-19.
The 118th U.S. Amateur Championship boasts a field of 312 participants that features two rounds of stroke play, which produces a cut of the top 64 scores. The remaining golfers then take part in match play to decide the winner.
