AUBURN, Ala. – With less than two weeks until the SEC championship, Auburn climbed to No. 12 in the latest NQS rankings. The Tigers posted their highest road score of the season Saturday with a 196.775 against Alabama in this year's Elevate meet.
"It was great to have a full meet out together," Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. "I thought the team did a phenomenal job of staying focused and trying to build throughout the meet. We have a few minor things to clean up, and I believe we are postseason ready."
Auburn still has one regular-season meet remaining this Friday when the Tigers host Air Force at 7 p.m. CT for the Hometown Heroes meet. It will also be senior night in Auburn Arena.
"This Friday is a big meet for us," Graba said. "Not only does it recognize all the heroes in our community at a time when they should be recognized, but it also is our senior night. I hope we get a huge crowd to turn out and help us recognize the heroes in our community and the four seniors as well."
With the exception of Denver jumping Utah at No. 5, this week's top five remained the same with Oklahoma, UCLA, Florida and LSU. All eight SEC teams are still ranked in the top 20 with Florida (3), LSU (4), Georgia (8) and Kentucky (T-9) in the top 10 followed by Alabama (11), Auburn (12), Missouri (19) and Arkansas (20).
As a team, Auburn is still among the top 20 on all four events this week.
Bars remains the team's top event as the Tigers are No. 7 with an NQS score of 49.335. The Tigers dropped on vault (49.145) and floor (49.180) but are still ranked 13th and 20th on the two events respectively. And beam is still at No. 17, though the NQS moved up to 49.100.
Auburn also had two individuals move up on beam with senior Abby Milliet (9.880) jumping into a tie for 24th and sophomore Meredith Sylvia (9.870) climbing to 31st nationally.
