AUBURN, Ala. – The 2020 Auburn gymnastics team will kick off the season at No. 13, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association announced Wednesday.
"Being ranked 13th in the preseason poll is exciting to see," head coach Jeff Graba said. "I think we'll have a tremendous team this year and the coaches around the country seem to agree. It's a great place to start and we're looking forward to the season."
Two Southeastern Conference teams are ranked in the Top 5, while all eight schools are among the Top 20. Defending national champion Oklahoma is No. 1, with LSU (No. 2), Florida (No. 3), UCLA (No. 4) and Utah (No. 5) rounding out the top. SEC rivals Georgia and Alabama rank No. 8 and No. 10, while Kentucky is 12th and Missouri is 16th.
Auburn kicks off the 2020 season at the competitive Collegiate Challenge in Anaheim. The Tigers will face off with No. 7 Denver, No. 21 Arizona State and No. 25 Penn State in the afternoon session. The Sooners, UCLA, No. 9 California and No. 22 Stanford will compete in the night session.
The team's home slate starts Jan. 10 as the squad hosts rival Alabama in Auburn Arena. The meet is set for 8 p.m. CT and fans can purchase tickets by going to www.AUBTIX.com.
