AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn senior Alison Maillard, who won SEC Diver of the Week twice in the fall, was recognized a third time by the league Tuesday following another impressive performance on the road at Georgia Tech this past weekend.
Maillard won both diving events at the meet to score 18 points for the Auburn women in their 202-93 victory over the Yellow Jackets. Maillard earned NCAA zone-qualifying scores in both events, and her 347.55 points in the 3-meter competition was her second-highest score of the season. She also posted a score of 310.50 to win the 1-meter event.
"We're real proud of her performance at Georgia Tech," Auburn head diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "She continues to develop this year and improve her level of consistency. We're looking forward to our dual meet with Florida and then preparing for the SECs.
"Florida will give her a really true test. They have a couple outstanding girls that challenged her at the Auburn Diving Invite, so we'll see where we stand in their home pool."
The Florida meet is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, and will be Auburn's last dual meet of the season. When Maillard faced off against Florida's divers last month at the Auburn Diving Invitational, she won the 1-meter event and finished third on three-meter despite posting a season-high score (349.25). She also finished second on platform.
Maillard, a CSCAA All-American last year, was previously named SEC Diver of the Week on October 22 and again on October 29 following wins over LSU and Arkansas.
This Friday, the Auburn men's and women's swimming teams will both be in action at home against Gardner-Webb. Though the divers aren't scheduled to compete, Maillard will still be recognized along with the other 13 seniors as a part of Senior Day.
