AUBURN, Ala. – Juniors Taylor St. Jacques and Deanna Green were recognized by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) for their efforts in February as the pair were named NCEA Riders of the Month, the organization announced Wednesday.
St. Jacques was honored for her performances in Flat as the Glen Allen, Va., product went 4-0-0 with two road wins and two MOP honors. The award goes with her Fences recognition in January.
With her performances, St. Jacques improved to 11-1-0 in the event on the year and helped the Tigers finish 13-5-2 in Flat for February. She averaged an 87.25 over four meets, scoring in the 80s in every meet.
She kicked off the month with a pair of 89s on the road against Top 5 opponents, starting with one at then-No. 4 Fresno State (2/1). St. Jacques followed with an 89 and an MOP at then-No. 3 Georgia (2/8). She capped the month with big wins at home, averaging a 12.5 win margin. That included a 18-point victory against No. 3 South Carolina, giving her another MOP honor.
Green secured monthly recognition for her performances in Horsemanship as she went 4-0-0 on the month with a 76.25 average. Her honor marked the second-straight for a Tiger in the event from the national group.
The Ocala, Fla., native picked up two MOPs and improved her overall record to 11-0-1 on the year. In addition, Auburn finished 14-4-2 in the event for February behind her solid performances.
She opened February with a 78-77.5 edge on the road at Fresno State, earning MOP. That score was her second highest of the season. Green followed that with another road win, topping her Georgia opponent with 74 points.
Green scored back-to-back 76.5s to close out the month at home. She bested her Baylor (2/15) opponent by 7.5 points and earned MOP recognition for her win vs. South Carolina.
Auburn closes out the regular season at home, hosting No. 7 Texas A&M, March 7. The Tigers and the Aggies will face off at 11 a.m. CT at the Auburn University Equestrian Center and the team will honor its senior class during the meet.
