Rising junior Aria Brusch is spending her summer away from the Plains in Cincinnati, putting her area of study to work. The psychology major is working with the Cincinnati Children's Hospital's Center of ADHD and took time to do a summer catch up!

Q: What is your internship this summer and how did you find out about it?
A:  My internship this year is with Cincinnati Children's in their ADHD center and I am a counselor in their Summer Treatment Program for kids ADHD. My developmental psychology professor suggested it as a way to get some clinical experience with children.

How will this internship help you with your major and future goals?
This internship is designed to give me some clinical experience with kids. I am interested in clinical psychology so this internship is very similar to the work I want to do with people of all ages in the future.

What has been the most rewarding part of your internship so far?
The most rewarding part of my internship so far has been getting to know the kids I will be working with over the summer and getting to work with people that are invested in helping these kids

Do you have words of advice for other student-athletes looking for internship opportunities?
Any internship is a good internship! Even if it is not in your expected field of work, you can always work it into your resume.

Now on to gymnastics…what are you most excited about looking ahead to the 2022 season?
I am really excited to get to know the new freshman and continue to grow as a team as the year goes on.

What was one of the biggest lessons learned during the 2021 season?
I think one of the biggest lessons I've learned from the past two years is that nothing is ever promised and every day is a new opportunity to get better at something, whether it be team or gymnastics oriented. Another thing is that you should never take your team for granted, they're basically your family!

Now that you have two years of collegiate gymnastics under your belt, what are some of the biggest changes you've noticed about yourself during your time at Auburn?
After two years of college gymnastics, I have definitely grown more confident in myself and my place in this team. Now that I know my place I have also become more of a leader on this team and am excited for what's this year holds for Auburn Gym!
