AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn men's and women's golf teams return to the course Monday, and this week they will be teaming up in Dublin, Ohio as one of four mixed teams competing in the prestigious Barbara Nicklaus Cup, hosted by Ohio State.
The Tigers will join Ohio State, Arizona State and Florida State and play a round-robin style match play tournament over the next two days at Muirfield Village Golf Club where the team with the most points after three matches is the winner.
Each of the three matches will consist of four mixed foursomes (alternate shot) and four singles battles – two women and two men. A total of eight points per match is available.
Both the Auburn men (No. 23) and women (No. 25) come in ranked in the top 25 per Golfweek. The only other team in the field who can boast that is Arizona State. With this being a mixed event, none of the head-to-head results will count toward NCAA or Golfstat rankings.
Auburn will face Florida State in the opening match of the tournament, beginning at 7 a.m. CT on Monday. Match No. 2 will follow at 12:40 p.m. CT on Monday against Arizona State, and the Tigers will wrap up play with Ohio State on Tuesday at 7 a.m. CT.
