In just his second NFL season, defensive lineman Derrick Brown is showing why he was a top 10 pick last year. He had another impressive performance Sunday, helping the Carolina Panthers notch a victory. That and more in this week's Auburn in the NFL rundown.
BEST OF WEEK 8
Derrick Brown, DT, Carolina Panthers
Brown was his usual disruptive self again Sunday as he generated three tackles, a QB hit and also knocked down a pass in Carolina's 19-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The second-year defensive lineman played two-thirds of the defensive snaps and finished with a PFF grade of 86.1, third highest on the team. He has 22 tackles on the season.

Jamel Dean, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It was a rare loss for the Bucs on Sunday, but Dean put in another solid effort with four tackles against the New Orleans Saints. The third-year CB earned a grade of 76.2 per PFF and has now recorded four or more tackles in five of the team's first seven games. Going into Sunday's contest, Dean had allowed just 11 completions while opposing quarterbacks had a combined 21.7 passer rating when targeting him, the lowest in the NFL.
Rudy Ford, DB, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars have given Ford a chance at slot cornerback, and he took full advantage Sunday with a career-high five tackles against the Seattle Seahawks. He played 27 snaps in the slot, 22 in coverage, and allowed six receptions for just 31 yards. His quarterback rating allowed was 88.2, which was the best among Jacksonville's DBs.
Braden Smith, OL, Indianapolis Colts
Smith made his first appearance on the field since Week 1 and showed little to no sign of rust as he played all 80 offensive snaps for the Colts in their loss to the Tennessee Titans. QB Carson Wentz was sacked only once and was under pressure on just 16 of his 54 dropbacks. With Smith back, the Indy offense accounted for over 300 yards and four touchdowns.
