AUBURN, Ala. – Rounding out a signing class that head coach Brent Crouch described as "difference-making," Auburn volleyball announced the addition of libero/defensive specialist Zoe Slaughter for the 2022 season.

"Zoe brings such positive energy to all her interactions on and off the court," Crouch said. "It is hard to overstate how important that is to our team success."

Hailing from Honolulu, Hawaii, Slaughter concluded her prep career at Moanalua High School where she competed in both indoor and beach volleyball. Slaughter served as the team's co-captain in 2021 and helped Moanalua to the HHSAA State Championship tournament.

Slaughter was tabbed to the Division I All-Tournament Team for her efforts. She also earned All-OIA Girls Volleyball Eastern Division First Team honors.

A scholar-athlete award winner in both 2018 and 2019, Slaughter was also tabbed the team's most inspirational member in 2018. She served on the school's student government association as the class corresponding secretary (2019-2020) and the vice president (2020-2021).

On the club scene, Slaughter competed for Ku'Ikahi.

Division I athletics is nothing new to the Slaughter family. Zoe follows in the footsteps of her older sister, Ally Slaughter, a volleyball standout at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2010 to 2013.  Her older brother, Derek Slaughter, is also an UAB graduate and played three seasons as a linebacker for the Blazers.

Slaughter joins Akasha Anderson, Kendal Kemp, Sarah Morton, Madison Scheer and Bel Zimmerman to complete the signing class. Kemp, an early enrollee, joined the Tigers for the spring semester along with Portland transfer Chelsey Harmon.
