AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn swimming and diving team capped the 2021-22 season with seven swimmers picking up SEC postseason awards, the conference announced Wednesday.
Reid Mikuta, Aidan Stoffle, Nate Stoffle, Logan Tirheimer and Matthew Yish all earned Second Team All-SEC honors while Avery Bargeron and Jacques Rathle, along with Nate Stoffle, each made the SEC All-Freshman Team.
It was the most All-SEC selections (7) on the men's side since Auburn had nine following the 2018 season. The Auburn women, meanwhile, have now had at least one person on the SEC All-Freshman Team in each of the last seven years, dating back to 2016.
For the All-SEC Teams, the First Team consists of the top finisher in each event at the SEC Championships, and the Second Team consists of the second- and third-place finishers in each event. The All-Freshman Teams consist of any redshirt or true freshman who finished either in the top eight or is the highest scoring freshman of each event at the SEC Championships, excluding relay events.
Mikuta made podium in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the SEC Championships. Aidan Stoffle, Nate Stoffle, Tirheimer and Yish earned their Second Team All-SEC honors with a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
The freshman trio of Bargeron, Rathle and Nate Stoffle all made an A-Final at SECs – Bargeron in the 200 butterfly, Rathle in the 400 IM and Stoffle in the 100 backstroke.
