AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn cross country and second-year distance coach Aaron Kindt announced the schedule for the team's 2022 cross country slate on Friday.
"We're very excited to kick off this new era of Auburn track & field and cross country this fall," Kindt said. "We've brought in a lot of new faces and with that comes a fresh, invigorating energy. I'm looking forward to watching this young group grow this fall and throughout the year."
The Tigers will kickstart the season on Sept. 2 at the Foothills Invitational in Oxford, Alabama. Auburn saw strong outings out of both squads at last year's event as the women's team finished second overall and the men's team captured its first victory since 2017.
Succeeding the season opener will be the North Alabama Showcase on Sept. 16 in Huntsville, Alabama.
In the month of October, Auburn will head to Louisville, Kentucky for the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on Oct. 1., then, the team will then wrap up its regular season with an outing at the Crimson Classic on Oct. 14 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Postseason competition will begin with the 2022 SEC Cross Country Championships on the campus of Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi on Oct. 28. Auburn returns a pair of All-SEC distance runners for the 2022 campaign, Cooper Atkins, who earned a spot on the All-SEC cross country team following his run at last year's championships, and Hallie Porterfield, who earned a nod on the All-SEC indoor track team as the top freshman finisher in the women's mile this spring.
Heading to Huntsville once more, the Tigers will continue postseason action at the NCAA South Regional on Nov. 11. An All-Region honoree, Ryan Kinnane, will also return to competition for Auburn this season.
Cross country season will culminate as qualified teams and individuals will converge on Stillwater, Oklahoma to vie for a national title at NCAA Championships on Nov. 19.
