OSHKOSH, Wis. – In their indoor season debut, the Auburn throws group racked up three event wins and five new personal-best marks over the weekend at the UW Oshkosh Early Bird Meet at the Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

"I am really impressed by the way all of our throwers competed," Auburn throws coach Pat Ebel said. "Everyone opened up their season much farther than they opened up their first meet last year, so we are ahead of pace. The results showed that we put in some really great work in the fall and are on our way to having a really great indoor season."

Maura Huwalt led off for the Tigers in the women's shot put posting a mark of 16.32m/53'6.5" to beat the field by nearly two meters. Later, Huwalt went on to throw a personal-best mark in the women's weight throw at 20.67m/67'9.75" to finish just behind teammate Madi Malone. Malone took the gold with a throw of 21.60m/70'10.5".

Auburn took three of the top five spots in the men's weight throw with Kyle Brown taking first with a throw of 21.84m/71'8". Kyle Moison and Erik Ebel were not far behind, finishing third and fourth at 19.98m/65'6.85" and 19.58m/64'3", respectively. Both Brown and Moison left the meet with new personal bests.

Continuing to top their previous marks, Moison and Ebel threw new PRs in the men's shot put. Moison took the silver with a throw of 15.95m/52'4" while Ebel finished seventh overall with a throw of 14.57m/74'9.75".

"I'm really pleased with the performance of the throws group this weekend, led by two of our senior captains, Kyle Brown and Madi Malone," Auburn head coach Leroy Burrell said. "I'm especially pleased with Brown's performance as his mark in the weight throw would have been just outside of qualifying for the NCAA championships last season."
