AUBURN Ala. – A trio of Auburn men's golf individual players are set for another series of competition this week at The Prestige hosted by the Golf Club at Terra Lago in Indio, California.
The tournament will run Feb. 20-22 and features 50 players from 20 universities. Auburn's contingent of Austin Coggin, Hal Dove and Reed Lotter will take center stage and be led by Tigers assistant coach Chris Williams.
"I'm really excited to hit the links with these three this week," Williams said. "It's going to be a lot of fun, but it's also going to be a great learning experience. The course is incredible, and the level of competition is certainly no cake walk. My goal is for each guy to go out there, enjoy it, and play the game like they know how to. If they can stick to that game plan, there will be no reason they can't beat anyone out here."
Seniors Coggin and Dove will both be making their second appearances of the spring campaign while freshman Lotter is set to make his collegiate debut.
Last time out, at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate, Coggin collected the third top-10 finish of his tenure thanks to a 217 (+1) performance. Through 36 total outings, the Birmingham, Alabama native holds a 72.14 career scoring average behind 14 rounds below par and seven in the 60s.
Dove, who also saw action at Thomas Sharkey, carded a 229 (+13) to place tied for 37th.
The Tigers' third individual golfer, Lotter, was originally set tee off in the Orange & Blue for the first time at the Amer Ari Invitational, however, the tournament was canceled due to ongoing wind gusts of 55 mph.
"I can't wait to finally get my college career kicked off this week," Lotter said. "I like where my game is right now, and my only goal is to commit to every shot. I know that if I stick to that game plan, everything else will work its way out. I play my best golf when I smile, so I'll be doing that a lot this week."
Lotter will commence the action for the Auburn men, teeing off from the first hole at 12:04 p.m. CT in a pairing with Baylor's Jonas Appel and Kansas' Frank Vucic. Dove will follow nine minutes later with two more men from both Baylor and Kansas before Coggin does the same at 12:26 p.m. CT.
