AUBURN, Ala. – Fifth year Derrian Gobourne of the No. 9 Auburn gymnastics team earned another Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday.
It is Gobourne's second honor of the season and sixth of her career.
The Sarasota, Florida product helped the Tigers beat rival Georgia last Friday with a 197.550. Competing in three event, Gobourne scored a 9.9 or better for the squad.
Highlighting her night was the 9.95 on bars. That score set a season best for her and gave her a share of the event title.
In the anchor spot of the final rotation, Gobourne scored a 9.95 on floor to win the event. With that score, she has earned a 9.9 or better in every meet competed this season on floor.
Gobourne opened the meet with a 9.9 on vault to finish in a tie for third overall. That score helped the Tigers earn a 49.450 in the event, marking the second highest for the team on vault this year.
Up next for Gobourne and the Tigers is a trip to No. 12 Kentucky. The two teams will face off on Friday, March 3 at 6 p.m. CT in Lexington.
