Auburn Made: Week 1 NFL rundownAuburn Made: Week 1 NFL rundown

A new season of the NFL kicked off this past weekend with 28 former Auburn players on active rosters, including five rookies. Among those rookies are Tank Bigsby who scored his first NFL touchdown and Anders Carlson who made a 52-yard field goal in his NFL debut.

That and more in this week's Auburn Made NFL rundown.

BEST OF WEEK 1

Tank Bigsby, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Making his NFL debut, Jaguars rookie Tank Bigsby scored his first NFL touchdown Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. It might have been his easiest touchdown run of the season, as he took it from just a yard out, but it was a critical one, giving Jacksonville a 24-21 lead with five minutes remaining. Bigsby finished with 13 yards rushing in a 31-21 victory.

Derrick Brown, DT, Carolina Panthers
Now in his fourth season in the NFL, Brown picked up where he left off a year ago with nine tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack in Sunday's season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. On the sack, Brown threw down the offensive lineman and chased down quarterback Desmond Ridder for a 13-yard loss. It was the seventh sack of his NFL career. The nine tackles were the second-most he's recorded in a game. He earned a PFF grade of 68.4

Anders Carlson, K, Green Bay Packers
The NFL now has two Carlson's kicking field goals this year, and it was Anders who shined brightest Sunday. In his first NFL game, Carlson made all five of his extra points, and on the final play of the first, he drilled a 52-yard field goal to give the Packers a 10-6 lead. For Green Bay, it was the first field goal attempted by anyone other than Mason Crosby since 2006. The Packers selected Carlson in the sixth round of the NFL Draft in April.

Carlton Davis, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
After signing a new contract with the Buccaneers in the offseason, Davis made maybe the biggest play of the game in Sunday's opener against the Minnesota Vikings. On 3rd-and-8 with four minutes left, Davis dove in front of a pass intended for Jordan Addison and knocked it away to force an incomplete pass. The Vikings, trailing by 3 at the time, had to punt. Their offense never saw the ball again. Davis also added six tackles.

Noah Igbinoghene, CB, Dallas Cowboys
After playing his first four seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, Igbinoghene started his career in Dallas off with a bang, scoring the Cowboys' first touchdown of the 2023 season on Sunday night. Igbinoghene recovered a blocked field goal and returned it 58 yards for the for the score. Not only was it the Cowboys' first touchdown of the season, it was the first career NFL touchdown for Igbinoghene – a former first-round pick.
