BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior diver Whit Andrus delivered two of the best performances of his career against Alabama on Friday. Tuesday, the SEC tabbed the Winston-Salem, North Carolina native SEC Diver of the Week for his efforts.
Going toe-to-toe with in-state foe Alabama, Andrus provided the best 1-2 punch head diving coach John Fox could've asked for. On the 1-meter, Andrus obliterated his career best with a 379.88, more than 60 points above teammate Talan Blackmon in second place.
Andrus wasn't done inside the Alabama Aquatic Center. When it came to the 3-meter competition, he came within one point of setting a second career high, stacking together a six-dive list for a 391.58 and his second victory of the day.
The honor marks the first time Andrus has been awarded SEC Diver of the Week and the first time for Auburn since Conner Pruitt was selected in January of 2022, also after a dual win over Alabama.
Auburn Swim and Dive will be back in action at home inside James E. Martin Aquatic Center Feb. 9-10 for the AU Invitational and First Chance Meets.
