BOSTON, Massachusetts—The Auburn distance medley relay quartet of Max Hardin, LeBron Bessick, Louis O'Loughlin, and Ryan Kinnane ran a 9:24.43 at the Terrier DMR Challenge in Boston Friday, breaking the school record by an astounding seven seconds.
 
The record set in Boston broke the 42-year-old of 9:31.75 previously set by Roger Jones, Larry Brooks, Sergio Oaxaca, and Chris Fox in 1982. Auburn finished third overall in the event and the time was good for 13th nationally.
 
Running the lead leg and 1200m, a freshman from Auburn, Hardin ran a 2:53.29 split, followed by a 47.65 400m split from Bessick. O'Loughlin turned in a 1:48.69 800m split before Kinnane closed with a mile time of 3:54.80.
 
Next up for the Tigers will be the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships, February 23-24 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
