AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn women's golf will begin its first team event of the spring on Sunday at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. The 54-hole event will be played Sunday through Tuesday with the opening round being a shotgun start at 6:30 a.m. CT.
No. 17 Auburn will be joined in the impressive field by No. 3 Arkansas, No. 9 Ole Miss, No. 11 LSU, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 38 Oklahoma State, No. 50 Minnesota, Furman, Kansas State, Georgia Southern, TCU, Louisiana-Monroe, Cincinnati and Mercer. The Auburn team lineup will feature Casey Weidenfeld, Megan Schofill, Anna Davis, Ami Gianchandani and Anna Foster. Katie Cranston and Rachel Gourley will also be playing in the event as individuals.
Davis, who made her arrival on the Plains in January, will be making her much anticipated collegiate debut on Sunday. The Auburn freshman and former Augusta National Women's Amateur champion is currently the seventh ranked amateur player in the world and the top amateur in the United States.
The ninth ranked amateur in the world, Megan Schofill, will also be starting in the event for the Tigers. This will be Schofill's fourth tournament of the season and she begins the event with a 70.89 scoring average and two top-10 individual finishes.
Foster will enter the event after finishing third in the weather-shortened Lady Bulldog Individual, where she posted a 1-under 71 before the remainder of the event was canceled.
Auburn team players will play alongside players from SEC foes LSU and Texas A&M and begin on holes No. 4 through No. 6. Live scoring of the event will be available online at Golfstat.com and the GolfStat mobile app.
