HILTON HEAD, S.C. – No. 11 Auburn finished the first round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club at even par (284) on Monday in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Tigers bounced back by playing their second nine at 5-under to finish the day.
As a team, Auburn finished round one with the third most birdies in the field with 17 and found success on the par-3s at Long Cove Club, playing them at 2-under.
In her third tournament with the team, freshman Anna Davis fired a 68 (-3). Davis tied for the most birdies in the field on Monday, recording six. She is in a tie for third place individually, one stroke behind the individual leaders.
Anna Foster recorded her seventh round under par this season, with a 2-under 70 on Monday. Foster is in a tie for 15th on the individual leaderboard.
After beginning the round 4-over through her first five holes of the day, redshirt sophomore Casey Weidenfeld bounced back with four birdies in her final 10 holes to shoot 1-over (72). Weidenfeld is tied for 38th place individually.
Megan Schofill provided the final counting score of the day for the Tigers on Monday, carding a 74 (+3).
Auburn will play the second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. CT alongside players from Arkansas and Arizona State.
